Pratonevoso is more and more well-known.
The investments made to relaunch this young tourist resort (born 30
years ago) located in the Maritime Alps, in the province of Cuneo
started in 2001 and will last until 2606, but are already beginning to
bear fruits.
Priority was given to
boost and to rationalize ski facilities and to the artificial
production of snow; then works proceed with the construction of an
extraordinary night lightening system that this year lights up two
slopes. Particular care was bestowed to the facilities for snowboard:
in 2003 the snow-park of Pratonevoso has been chosen for the Junior
World Championship. In addition to this, for children (and especially
for their mothers!) it was created Pratolandia, a well frequented
playground with ski instructors and people to make children play so
that the parents can relax.

This is but a brief
explanation of what has been done in the last two years to modernize
the facilities of this place; but the most interesting novelty for
those who love mountains, not only in winter, is the creation of a new
hamlet formed by thirty chalets with shops and facilities built around
a big square and along the old street of the cattle-sheds.
 The
name of this new mountain village is Stalle lunghe (long cattle-sheds)
in honour of the past and of the experience of the farmers who
inspired the details. It is formed by houses of stone and wood, wooden
terraces on sight, support structures to stop snow to fall from the
roofs, of debarked logs, underground garages with direct access inside
the house.
The first
chalet has been finished and given to the proprietors at Christmas,
others during the summer, others at the end of 2004, and so on till
the last one.

The absolute novelty is the possibility
of buying a flat with a
particular formula well-known in France: the people who buy the
house decide to use the flat, during
the first 10 years, only 5 weeks
yearly (2 weeks in winter and 3 in the summer) and leave it for the
rest of the year to a company that will rent it. During these years
the owner will not pay the bill of charges for upkeepers and
management of common property. In addition to this there is an
instant discount of the 30% on buying. At the end of the period of
ten years, the owner of the flat, can decide what to do with its flat.
This new formula, uniq ue
in Italy has many strong points such as benefits to the place and its
facilities, to optimise the ski-lifts, am the creation of new jobs.
Real Vacanze, the society that will administer the properties involved
in this project, has provided data: 480 new beds for the end of 2004
and other 400 are previewed for the end of 2005; this data are really
very important even we talk about more famous winter resorts. The
improving o accommodation capacities is the key of the success of all
the tourist resorts but to face such an increase they have to offer
adequate offerings of services. What we have listed at the beginning
of this text can suggest how many resources have been used to make
Pratonevoso more and more comfortable
